When I first started getting sales lists from Barbie dealers in the 1980s, I was confused by the abbreviations which were entirely new to me. NRFB, MOC, TNT, C/T O/T - such a mystery! Over the years, we keep using these abbreviations, and more have been added to reflect the newer dolls.
Attached is a list of acronyms and abbreviations, mostly from the vintage and mod eras, which you can download. Below are a few examples from the longer list in the attachment.
AG | American Girl (Bendable-leg Barbie 1965-66) |
BC | Bubblecut Barbie (1961-67) |
C/T | Closed-toe pumps - referring to the closed-toe shoes which came with most of the 1600-series outfits and some mod outfits. |
GPH | Grown' Pretty Hair - in 1970-71 Barbie and Francie were available with a mechanism which allowed their ponytails to grow longer when pulled. |
GUAG | Get Up and Go – a series of outfits issued in 1973-1976 |
MOC | Mint On Card (unopened in original packaging) |
NRFB | Never Removed From Box |
S/L | Straight Leg (not bendable) |
TNT | Twist n Turn - referring to the movable waist joint of dolls commencing in 1967. |
